A golden evening

A golden evening

Last night marked the sixth annual Wirehive 100 and what a night it was!

Each year we aim to top the previous, a challenge which is becoming increasingly more difficult. This year we set ourselves the additional challenge of introducing five new regions to the awards. With a room full of the crème de la crème of digital in the South, it was going to be a tough crowd to please.

“I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore” The Wizard of Oz 1939

This year we headed to the O2 Guildhall, Southampton and transported everyone back to the golden age of Hollywood. On arrival guests battled their way through the paparazzi on the red carpet to be greeted with a sparkling reception, sponsored by Policy Bee, accompanied with the slapstick of Laurel & Hardy.

Following a sumptuous three-course meal, Alun Cochrane warmed the crowd up with his hilarious stand-up before crowning the real stars of the evening.

“Don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars” Now, Voyager 1942

With thanks to headline sponsors dotmailer, the awards night was truly one to remember.

Of the 16 categories we crowned 14 different agencies, and a good showing from agencies in the new South West region taking a quarter of the wins. For the third year Redweb were crowned Number One in the League Table. You can see all of the winners and judges comments on the winners page.

“I could have danced all night” My Fair Lady 1964

In true Wirehive 100 style, the after-party went on into the early hours of the morning. Sponsored by Tealium, the cinematic experience continued with pick & mix and ice cream tubs for everyone.

Like all self-respecting A-Listers guests partied the night away and celebrated another great year for digital agencies in the South, outside of London.

“After all, tomorrow is another day!” Gone With the Wind 1939

As the curtains close on another year, we hope we’ve done you proud and once again put on the best night in the digital calendar.

Once the sore heads have cleared, we’ll be starting the preparations for the 2018 awards which promises to be bigger and better than ever before!
